Services

Research has consistently demonstrated that interventions and educational programs based on Applied Behaviour Analysis are the most effective means of teaching skills to people with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The primary purpose of the ABA based intervention is to develop communication, functional and adaptive skills, reduce problem behaviour, and in turn improve individual’s and their family’s quality of life.
When designing an intervention I focus on teaching communication and verbal behaviour. Clinical research and practice shows that acquiring meaningful communication and adaptive skills reduces challenging behaviour, increases independency and improves emotional health of both individual with autism and their family. A successful and effective intervention requires commitment from the child’s parents as well as the team of specialists working with the child.
The services I provide are flexible and designed to suit the client and their needs. I provide services to individual families, as well as schools, nurseries and other organisations requiring behavioural and educational recommendations for individual pupils.

  • Consultations
The purpose of the consultation is to discuss the behavioural and educational concerns and to provide recommendations for these. The consultation takes place in client’s home or organisation (e.g. school, nursery). The recommendations are provided during the consultation, as well as a report sent to the client via email.
  • Functional Communication Training (FCT)
The FCT is implemented based on client’s communication skills and deficits, after assessing their means of communication (e.g. language, picture based system or sign language). Parents and staff are then trained in how to execute the FCT in child’s immediate environment. Regular supervision sessions will follow (e.g. every 4-6 weeks) to ensure FCT is implemented successfully.
  • Individual Education Programs
After evaluating child’s development, skills and learning barriers using VB-MAPP assessment, an Individual Education Program is designed to be implemented at home or school. Additionally a systematic breakdown of targets and procedures is provided. If required, a set of training sessions are offered to parents and therapists in how to effectively teach the child in structured and natural environments in a fun and motivating way. Supervision sessions involving the whole team are held regularly (e.g. 3-5 weeks).
  • Behaviour Management
The individual behavioural intervention is designed based on the functional assessment of challenging behaviour in order to achieve the desired results.
The intervention plan and hands-on training to parents and staff on how to execute it is provided. Ongoing supervision (e.g. 2-6 weeks) is also available to ensure that pro-active and reactive strategies are implemented consistently.
